Welcome to the Kean University ESL Program
Situated in the Department of English, the ESL (English as a Second Language) Program at Kean University serves non-native speakers of English who are admitted to the university but need additional development in English in order to successfully complete a baccalaureate degree.

Spotlight
Nelson Alvarez presented "Fragments of Landscapes," an exhibition of his art, at the Dryfoos Gallery in the Nancy Thompson LIbrary, January 8-30, 2008. Here is some of his art.
Rosmery Peña, who is from the Dominican Republic, has been nominated for Who's Who Among American Colleges and University 2008. In addition, she is a member of the Lambda Alpha Sigma Honor Society and Epsilon Epsilon Omega Honor Society, and has received scholarships from the Cardinal Health Foundation, the New Jersey Association of Public Accountants, and EEO, the last one covering her fees for taking the Kaplan GMAT review course.
Francisco Guerrero just graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's of Arts in Spanish with Teacher Certification (K-12). He's a member of several honor societies—Lambda Alpha Sigma, Alpha Sigma Lambda, and Sigma Delta Phi—and served in the last one as Vice-President. Although he graduated, he's not leaving Kean yet. In the fall semester, he will continue studying, working on a Master's degree.
Karla Davila, who is from Ecuador, won a a $1500 higher education scholarship from NJTESOL/NJBE on May 20, 2008.
